Amid escalating tension between India and Pakistan, people from across the border are sending out messages of peace using the hashtag #SayNoToWar.
Twitter users from both sides of the border, who were tweeting using this hashtag believe that war is not the best solution. While on one hand, thousands call for peace to prevail, hundreds continued to root for blood and fuelled the fire for war.
Women and feminist organisations from Pakistan are reaching out to Indian women with a message of peace.
Women Democratic Front, a Pakistan-based, independent socialist-feminist political organisation, shared a video on their Facebook page. The women, holding placards that read “Women to women across border”, “women for peace” and “#SayNoToWar”, urged Indian women to call for peace.

Hate and bigotry has plagued the social media on both sides of the border in the past few days, scores of Pakistani women are tweeting using #AntiHateChallenge to speak out against war and terrorism.
Pakistani journalist Sheyr Mirza stood with a placard reading #WeStandWithIndia #NoToWar in a Facebook post. She urged her countrymen and social media users to join the campaign of peace.
Quoting an Indian poet and lyricist Sahir Ludhianvi, Mirza wrote:
Whether blood be ours or theirs, Its the blood of humankind.
Whether wars be waged in the east or west, It is the murder of world-peace.
Whether houses be bombed or borders, The temple of the Soul is wounded.
War is a problem itself. How will war resolve problems?
Today it will rain fire and blood, Tomorrow, hunger and scarcity.

In her post that was shared on Aman Ki Asha page on Facebook, Mirza wrote:
“We’re deeply disturbed over the tragic terror attack that claimed innocent lives in Kashmir. In such testing times, we need more sane voices to speak out against war and terrorism. We have initiated this #AntiHateChallenge to not only condemn the attack but also express solidarity with our Indian friends. Requesting Pakistani fellows, who share our feelings to please, join in 🙏”
Several Pakistani women joined the campaign holding placards reading similar messages.
Amid the jingoism and cry for war, thousands have joined hands to #SayNoToWar.
